While practicing devotional service one has to be very enthusiastic and active so the proper success is received. Laziness, lethargy, slowness, stupidity and inactiveness have no place in spiritual life. As it is stated in the Niti Sastra, udyoginah simham upaiti laksmi, “Only those who are very enthusiastic and active receive success in life.” That is why the Nyaya Sastra states, alasi dirghasutri ca. “Those who are lazy and slow in doing things cannot advance on the spiritual path.” One has to be very lucky to be always enthusiastic and active on the spiritual path because only the lucky souls get the opportunity to advance on the spiritual path.
