Spiritual Practice

”By virtue of the transcendental consciousness he carried over from his previous life, he is automatically attracted to the yogic principles, even without seeking them. In his quest for Yoga, such a transcendentalist remains above the ritualistic principles of the scriptures.”

PURPORT BY SRI KRSNA BALARAM SWAMIJI

Whatever impious actions such yogis performed in their previous lives still stand as an obstacle on their path. But, because of their prolonged spiritual practice, the merciful Lord removes that obstacle and reengages them. Their favorable attitude toward spiritual life is thus a benediction gained by their previous spiritual practices. Others too, like those who are new to the path, those who are experimenting, even those who have no faith or desire for liberation, are all benefited by spiritual practice, especially by the path of devotional service and chanting Lord Krsna’s glories. As it is said in Srimad Bhagavatam:

sanketyam parihasyam va
stobham helanam eva va
vaikuntha nama grahanam
asesagha haram viduh

(Srimad Bhagavatam, 6.2.14)

“One who chants the Holy Name of the Lord is immediately freed from the reactions of unlimited sins, even if he chants indirectly [to indicate something else], for musical entertainment, or even neglectfully. This is accepted by all learned scholars of the scriptures.”

[Srimad Bhagavad Gita 6.44, KBS0006]
